We have been working almost every hour of the day to get Shift Sight off the ground. Tonight, I want to share with you some details in most of the categories posted on the Progress page. Some of the items that I have disclosed have a minor broadcast delay. TimelineBack in June, we were working feverishly to launch a fundraiser prior to an event that would displace us. Our scope was short, fixed, and rigid. Life unfolded. We realized that we lacked the compute power to meet schedule. (Rendering is a lot of number crunching!) As it so often goes in an early startup, the schedule of the Founders is the schedule of the business. Since we would miss the deadline and need to move -- affecting our personal lives -- we decided that the most reasonable thing to do was to also change the trajectory of Shift Sight. As a Teal startup, we operate with flexibility. A longer timeline enables higher detail, assuming that our rendering machines are unchanged. Higher detail means better realism and more excitement. You can compare and contrast these two renderings: one is under the old scope, the other with the new. Previews I will follow the same order as the Progress page, starting with 3D Model Textures and Art. The original model materials were originally oversaturated (to compensate for improper lighting) and had minimal realism. These have mostly been fixed: The screen art shown in the videos has also been updated. There are hundreds of frames; I picked these two for you: Unfortunately, a lot of the 3D Model Geometry updates are to remain under wraps so as to not spoil the surprises. I have previously shared some cosmetic updates, including the addition of the UN SDGs label. Moving on to the Revised Website Artwork, there is an incredible amount of original content. My co-founder is a very talented artist. Here is but one of her works of Jade: Unfortunately, I need to leave the the Revised Website Content a mystery tonight. It is a bit further down the pipeline and in flux. Back in July, my co-founder was also very busy creating the Video Artwork and Renderings. One of the characters that she drew for our unreleased videos is our unofficial mascot, the Jade cat. This mascot might make it to the production firmware: The Jade Simulator is perhaps the item I have discussed the least. It is a PC-based simulator that implements a significant portion of the Jade RTOS, kernel, and GUI. Application code, including a Carrier Board simulator and engineering office suite, was underway when progress was stopped. Jade BASIC and Jade C interpreters are works-in-progress. (The simulator originally served to refine and crystalize requirements and schedule. It is not yet a demonstration piece, despite all modules amounting to 800+ pages of printed code.) At present, the simulator's artwork is lacking: most of it was created in late 2016 and early 2017. It will change drastically prior to the fundraiser. Last, but not least, the Fundraiser does not currently have any incomplete, unique assets tied to it. All of the other categories are the critical path leading to its launch.
After that, the fate of Shift Sight is in your hands. We believe that you deserve a choice other than disposable, addictive, and unsustainable electronics. We only want to benefit you and your children in a way that no other company can or will. See you next week!
