Website Updates The Shift Sight website has been edited:
Fundraising The GoFundMe for Shift Sight was closed recently. The campaign did not take off and was largely neglected. (We are very grateful for the three supporters that acted on it!) As the focus has shifted toward partnerships with Impact Investors, there was no reason to keep it open. I have some promising conversations in motion. The company and product are being repeatedly validated with every conversation I have. The equity per dollar being offered is somewhere between standard to generous when compared to industry expectations. In the near term, I have meetings with impact investors and firms scheduled, am working with organizations that are willing to connect Shift Sight to impact investors, and there are a few phone calls to be made regarding non-traditional sources of capital. Grants are also on our radar, but these seem to be problematic due to the required release of IP. Outreach Shift Sight is involved with two local schools to varying degrees.
I started down this path to help, but as it always happens, I suspect that I am the one that will be helped. I am looking forward to learning from / with the students. Others I recently joined a group called Zebras Unite. (The clever joke being that Zebras "fix what unicorns broke" -- since every venture capitalist is looking for the mythical unicorn.) It is a community of purpose-driven individuals helping each other and the planet with a catch: they act for reasons other than money. After I logged in for the first time and saw what they were about, I actually heard myself mutter "I'm home." After Shift Sight is profitable, I intend to throw as much capital as the company can spare at individuals working on social / impact businesses. There is simply no alternative if we want an inhabitable planet, since our fiat currency is not tied to natural resources, environmental health, human happiness, or any tangible yardstick. On the technical end, I am developing a core component to Jade, business tools, and engineering tools. It is a component used in software development: 1) Jade enables learning this language; 2) Our business tools are programmable; 3) An engineering tool needs to interpret the language for downloading images to Jade. It may sound like a commonplace component for software development. It is anything but. The language is common, but there is no equivalent software on the shelf. It has been framed in a highly unique context that is the heart of Jade. (To be honest, I would not be able to write a job description to hire for development of this component.) Feedback I would love to hear from you. What have you enjoyed, not liked, want to see more of, or can't stand? Send me a message via the Contact page or directly at inquiries@shiftsight.com.
